The incident was reported at 5:55 a.m., and happened in front of Eyas Developmental Institute at 1015 West 79th Street, near the corner of 79th and Morgan.
When the woman took her children inside the daycare center, a car thief jumped into her vehicle and fled the scene.
The crook stole a tan Chrysler 300, said police.
No further details are available.
People should NOT leave their cars running.

ReplyDeleteOn Second City Cop, one of the posters said Chicago is being targeted by gangs of professional thieves who are shipping cars to Europe (read that as Russia). They use tow trucks. CPD gutted their auto theft division, and have no detectives dedicated to auto theft.

High auto theft rate or not, it's just plain stupid to help the thieves out by leaving your vehicle running when you're not in it.
ReplyDeletepeople need to stop clinging to a false sense of security. even though the streets appear quiet in the wee hours of the morning, there are predators lurking in the shadows.
