Multiple Shootings in NW Side Neighborhood

Bullets flew through several windows in a northwest side Chicago neighborhood.

The gunfire started around 11:03 p.m.

A bullet pierced a window in a woman’s home on the 1600 block of North Francisco Avenue and another bullet shattered a car window at a different address on the same block.

Police believe the shots were fired by the same gunman.

The shooter, who was described as a small Hispanic man, approximately 5’4” with a slim build, was reportedly shooting at someone in a gold-colored Lincoln - when several shots hit the unintended targets.

Despite multiple reports of property damage, no physical injuries were reported.

According to a tipster, the shooter lives on the 1600 block of North Francisco Avenue.

  1. Hey Tim, I'm one of the anonymous folks that visit and usually don't comment, but I wanted to say that I appreciate this blog and your hard work on it. Don't let the criticism on the Dominick's post get you down-if it weren't for you, we wouldn't know about half the f*%ked up stuff that happens in the city. I also like your celebrity blog as well. Hope you stay in the fight. Best wishes, Anonymous.

  2. Anonymous, I sincerely appreciate your kind words. Truthfully, my response to the "criticism" on the Dominick's story was based on my emotions - as opposed to good, solid reasoning.

Freedom of expression, which I vehemently defend, is a part of the blogging experience. I welcome constructive criticism, but I think that comment caught me during a "very human" moment.

When I started this blog, my goal was 200 visitors a day. Today, I average around 2,000, and I don’t take a single reader for granted.

My aim is to give my readers the best I have to offer. If I fall short, it’s not because I didn’t try.

I'm glad you like the celebrity blog. It gives me a mental break, and hopefully, will keep people entertained.

    Don't worry. I'm sticking around. :-)

  3. I too am thankful for your blog, Tim. There's virtually no crime reporting in this city any more. If you look at old issues of the Tribune, like from the 1940s and 1950s, crime reporting was an important service provided by the paper. I guess they decided there's more money in running press releases and fluff pieces about celebrities.

  4. I don't know if readers of this blog completely understand the emotional toll listening to all these crimes being committed on a police scanner takes, so we are made aware of what TRULY is out there.
Putting all these crimes in the mainstream media is not an option. Why? Because it affects tourism, the hotels & restaurants, all the things not only the tourists like to come here and do, but what the citizens like to do as well. So, reporting this stuff would end up costing the city and businesses and the safety of the people takes a backseat to that. Sad but true!

And Timothy, you KNOW how I feel about this blog and your efforts;)

  5. Thanks for filling in the gaps (huge ones) left by the mainstream media.

  6. I agree with the above comments. :)

While crime reporting still occurs in some community newspapers, newsletters and blogs, they are nowhere near the number of the 1950s' community newspapers.
