The assault occurred across the street from the Northwestern University Wieboldt Hall campus at 339 East Chicago Avenue.
According to the university’s crime alert, one of the suspects swung a baseball bat at the male victim’s face and knocked him to the ground.
Once the victim was down, several offenders punched and kicked the man, said the university alert.
After the assault, the gang fled eastbound on Chicago Avenue, towards Lake Michigan.
The victim, who sustained minor injuries, was treated at the scene.
The incident has been categorized as an attempted robbery and the arrested suspects have been hit with mob action charges.
But what about the actual robberies that occurred in Streeterville Saturday evening? Why haven’t they been reported? Is someone trying to make this incident look like an isolated attack?
Saturday, at approximately 8:44 p.m., several minutes after the attack near Wieboldt Hall, a man was robbed by five to six male blacks on the 600 block of North Lake Shore Drive.

One of our major papers describes the perpetrators as"youths" and "teens". They don't want to get into the sticky business of confronting what's really been happening, and that's that black mobs have been race rioting all over the place, in this city and others.

It's not that they really need the i-pods or money, it's just icing on the cake. The media and J Jackson (a sleazy hustler) try to make it seem to be a result of some kind of deprivation, which it's not.
We're in the midst of an ongoing and sustained race riot by blacks, here in this city and nationwide. Denial of reality will get us nowhere.

ReplyDeleteThe Tribune prominently displayed the mugshot of a 64 yr old white male a few weeks ago in its online edition. He had stolen an expensive suit from one of the Michigan Ave stores . He was displayed for a couple days as though he were some criminal mastermind. They had no problem in letting everyone see he was white.

City Hall knows that, and don't want that to mess up the tourism revenue. So likely they had major media outlets tone down the so-called "profiling".

I think we should all put more pressure on the news media for truth in reporting. It bothers me that they refuse to allow the race of offenders to be part of their reporting. However, it is even worse when the perpetrator has not been caught, and even then they say "black hair, brown eyes". My life could be in danger, and I'm not sure if I should be watching out for someone who is black, Asian, Hispanic, or even white with that description. As a society, we are carrying political correctness to the point of danger.

ReplyDeleteThis doesn't surprise me in the least. Loyola campus in the area did the same thing. They put it out there to PROTECT their students, who pay dearly to go to both schools, and their employees. Too bad the CPD & the mainstream media can't do the same to PROTECT their citizens
No doubt someone at the top is instructing both the CPD & the media to NOT tell us the facts. In doing that, they also aren't making us aware of who we should be looking out for in order to protect ourselves. Oh wait! Mustn't alarm the tourists...

ReplyDeleteThey stopped saying it when white criminals began committing crimes and telling the police it was Blacks and Hispanics. The most recent case was the man who said he was attacked and robbed of his Oprah tickets by a big Black man and a Hispanic man only to find out later he'd never had tickets in the first place and just made up the attack. Oh and let's not forget the white lady who killed her kids and offered the 'ol reliable "it was a Black man" until evidence proved otherwise. And let's not forget the man who shot his wife in the head and... well hey, you go on and guess who he said did it.... until evidence proved otherwise. THAT'S WHEN THEY STOPPED PRINTING IT-- when it was determined that the papers might TRY to display a bit of responsibility before printing an untruth that they wouldn't be able to take back after it was revealed to be untrue. Now I am NOT defending the thug activity in any way, shape or form but some of this stuff is ridiculous.
And while I'm at it... I am the mother of a young Black man. I busted my behind to put him through college and raise him with morals and good values. Before you go visualizing me as some doo-rag wearing, section 8 receiving mother of 12-- I have one child. 20 yrs ago my HUSBAND was the victim of a hit and run driver and subsequently died as a result. I am educated, worked all of my life in the advertising industry and, until recently, earned a nice yearly salary. Since college, my son works hard as an electrical engineer and has never (I SAID NEVER!!!) been in trouble. So please tell me how to feel when I see the police have him eagle spread on the ground in front of HIS house, guns drawn, white scowling faces uttering obsenities at him as they proceed to check his pockets for weapons, drugs and whatever. How do you think I felt when I saw this? Do I just hunch my shoulders and say he/we deserve this because he's Black? As a mother do I just sit down and accept the fact that HE may one day be killed by scared, angry cops or blood thirsty thieving thugs... or revenge seeking racists.... or petrified, gun toting citizens who shoot first and learn facts later? Tell me! What is a Black person.. a Black mother in this city supposed to do?

Ending "gang" violence is as simple as eradicating the roots of white supremacy, aka white capitalist control of the economy, the housing market, the political institutions, the banks, etc. Everywhere I look I see white gangs killing (wars overseas), thieving (Wall Street), exploiting (corporate CEOs), but no one talks about race in these cases. It's the white race that's the problem. I'm not for violence of any kind, but if we want to end it, we've got to know its roots. And it's rooted in white supremacy, the same white supremacy that this country was founded on and has yet to reckon with. And I'm white. The North Side has to stop thinking that the South Side doesn't exist. The real gansters are the Donald Trumps of the world.

ReplyDelete1.) A growing population of under-educated teens as a result of budget cuts on top of institutionalized bigotry;
2.) Reckless abandon due to the lack of economic opportunity and motivation, prompted by that same institutionalized bigotry; and,
3.) A reduction in the city's ability to respond due to budget cuts for police, etc.
As a result, while progressive, major cities around the world are seeing increases in population, opportunity and positive social interaction, you are subject to a downward spiral of violence and despair. Read many of the bigoted comments in response to this story and you can see why. Your local culture is a generation or more behind where it should be.
Stop pretending that is something to be proud of. Fix it, or watch as you become another Detroit.

ReplyDeleteWhile I agree with SOME of what you say, I think you forget that there are plenty of POOR people in this country who do not go around committing crimes. They don't go around mugging, robbing, burglarizing and shooting innocent people and they certainly don't kill each other. Poverty is not a pass to commit crimes against innocent people. I don't care where the "root" started.
I take offense to you putting "white gangs killing(wars overseas) in the same sentence with our troops over there fighting. They didn't CHOOSE to go over there to fight in ANY wars. These ghetto thugs CHOSE to commit these crimes. There is a huge difference and YOU know it!
Lastly, many many people have been affected by the "wall street" mess, not just the black community. And please, don't include me in your opinion that "it's the white race that's the problem". Speak for yourself. My partner is a mentors and we do our part. I think it's time the black community started doing their part as well. Life is not easy for ANYONE now days.
The rush to racism, prejudice, and bigotry are disappointing from those that call themselves Chicagoans. I am a resident of the area and do not foster the hatred that some of you do. ReplyDelete20 black kids from the south side organized a group to travel downtown and deliberately beat on people. I don't see any harm in telling the truth. The only argument against it not being a hate crime is that it was just a coincidence they did not attack another black person. Whelp, I smell BS on that one. ReplyDeleteI would venture a guess that the black community in Chicago is, compared generally to all others, the most uneducated, government dependent, obese, and criminal race; all of which exhibit a lack of respect for oneself, others, and the systems that make a city run. Needless to say, there are scumbags of every race, but it really bothers me that no one can racially challenge blacks to the point that writers are scared of the word. Identifying a black hate crime in a landmark area of Chicago, you wonder if it is a business decision to not say black teenagers for fear of loss of image, tourism.
Do you think it has to do with the fact “Black male” is so readily identified with crime? Homelessness? Who’s fault should that be? Most blacks will naturally blame it on whites, wall street, civil equality, etc. To some extent that could be true, however, to a larger extent it is also true that blacks have alienated themselves in their quest for individuality and rights; therefore wanting their own traditions and subculture in America. I.E. The name Da’Quan. You tell me the color of skin that pops into your head when you hear that name. If an employer has 2 equal resumes in front of him, one named John and one named Da’Quan, who is going to get the interview if the Hiring party is a white male? Black male? Those feats of individuality away from white influence, over time, are keeping racism and segregation very much alive.
White male from Chicago, Hispanic Male from Chicago, and Asian Male from Chicago all roll off the tongue easier for everyone the same way a black calls another black the N word. There always seems to be a sudden mental lapse in what derogatory roots that word stemmed from as long as when you’re saying it you are black. Yet another alienation within black culture dividing racial lines.
Simply, until that fear of calling a black guy black is gone, racism is going to continue to grow stronger. You would never realize that Chicago is about 37% white, 30% Black, and 27% Hispanic given the racial boundaries set up between neighborhoods.

You're right, I don't know what it' like to be profiled and I'm sorry that the good people in the black community are profiled because of the bad ones.
Trust me when I say I have been discriminated against as well. The word "discrimination" is not something the black community has a patent on, and that goes for many other words , that when said, the black community thinks we are talking just about them. In my case, that's not how it is.
When I said "who are innocent people suppose to look out for?, I also meant the innocent black people. It's sad I have to clarify that:(

Where assuming Obama is still interacting with black panther violence in order to instill fear in the community via gang uprising and technology use to be more sophisticated and seemingly violent. Regardless of the fact that these crimes are not really too serious, but they are enough to set off triggers used for political gain. Open your eyes people. Wake up to the reality!

ReplyDeleteI was in Chicago yesterday on the Judge Mathis show. I was suing a group of kids that attacked me In Cincinnati Ohio. This flash mob mentality is starting to spread.. Judge Mathis threw my case out , even though these kids had been found quilty in Cincinnati Ohio by a judge. judge mathis stated that he was tired of educated people looking down on these poor black kids and that they are the victims. I called him sir and this made him mad and he threw my case out. I pitty those in Chicago if this is the message that one of your local celeberity is sending. By the way I'm African American.
