NW Side Music Store Robbed at Gunpoint, Employee ‘Tied to the Floor’

Spanish music store robbed: Casa de Music 4230 W. North Ave.
A northwest side music store was robbed at gunpoint and the crime was caught on tape.

The robbery occurred around 8:40 p.m. at Casa de Musica, 4230 West North Avenue on Chicago’s  northwest side.

Police said three Hispanic men armed with a revolver entered the music store and “tied the employee to the floor”. Then, the trio stole cash from the register and a cell phone. Because the victim was bound, she was unable to tell police which way the suspects went.

At the time of my report, authorities were reviewing the store’s surveillance footage and a police evidence technician was being called to the scene to dust for fingerprints.

One offender was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a large letter C on the back . The letter is written in an Old English font. The second suspect was wearing a black coat with fur around the hood, tan khaki pants, and white gym shoes. The third perpetrator was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.

Because of the video, I have a feeling these guys are going to get caught.

  1. This is a new law in Iowa..the corn belt state. They seem to be farther ahead as far as gun laws and gay marriage than a "world class" city like Chicago. Perhaps if we had this law, that clerk could have protected himself. Ya never know.

States also targeted gun use restrictions. In Iowa, local sheriffs will have less discretion to reject gun permit applications. The new right-to-carry law says sheriffs can only turn down applications for specific reasons, such as a previous criminal record. The new law also allows gun owners to carry concealed weapons in bars as long as the gun owner isn't legally intoxicated.

  2. If the crooks knew there was a chance we were armed with a gun, those cowards would think twice before trying to stick us up!

  3. Whenever I go into a store and see a woman working alone, I get a sick feeling in my stomach.

  4. I have to agree with you Timothy. I don't think, in this day & age that anyone should be working alone, especially women. I also think that places that are open 24/7 are begging for trouble. Who the hell needs something at 3 o'clock in the morning? Give me the good old days when EVERYTHING was closed on Sunday..which than became "FAMILY" day.

  5. I used to be a night owl. In some ways, I still am. I used to go grocery shopping at 2 and 3 am, to avoid the crowds. I used to wash clothes at 1 am... LMAO! In the "good old days" you could get away with that.

If these 24-hour stores cared about their employees, they could install a turnstile type security window and close the store. People could get cigarettes, beer, candy, etc., without entering the store and putting the clerk at risk.
