Police are investigating a stabbing at a Chicago, Edgewater neighbor CTA train station.
The crime occurred around 10 p.m., at the Red Line Thorndale “L” station at 1118 West Thorndale Avenue.
A CTA passenger was stabbed with an unidentified object. Police said the weapon was either a knife, a bottle, or a box cutter. The victim wasn’t sure what his attackers used to cut him.
Three African-American offenders are said to be responsible for the crime. Two of them were wearing all black or dark-colored clothing. One offender was wearing a plaid shirt.
I believe police dispatch said one of the suspects is a woman.
The victim was stabbed in the lower left arm and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. An officer at the hospital said the victim was in "good condition".

Ok, this is getting way too close for comfort. there are a bunch of black kids that hang out on Thorndale and I have seen many police suv's over there but they scatter and when the police are gone, they're right back there. There's also a school right on the corner of Thorndale & Winthrope. I have spoken to these kids a couple times and they have always been polite to me, but than, I am polite to them. This street is always a problem and I avoid it at all costs but sometimes, when there is something going on at the armory, we have to walk it. Once again, the CTA trains set up their riders for attacks and don't seem to care. I find it appalling that these kids, ghetto thugs and thugs are not afraid of the police now days. Again, HOLD THE PARENTS RESPONSIBLE as well!
ReplyDeletetownda, right before this crime hit, I said to myself, "So far, Edgewater has been relatively quiet." I think I jinxed you. :-(
ReplyDeleteEvery now & again, there are problems on Thorndale because of the gangs and Grandville also gets a little crazy now & than, but it's not near what Uptown has going on and I would like to see it stay that way. I think once our new Alderman takes over, he will keep the bangers either at bay or just plain gone. He has a family, doesn't live very far from there and is a presence in the neighborhood. I am hopeful because staying in our place behind closed doors is not an option. One time, there was a meeting close by there and as we were walking by, this banger said "these are our streets" and I turned to him and said "darlin' these are all our streets"..he looked at me like I was some crazy white lady with white hair BUT..he simply said "ok" and that was it. Maybe you did jinx me BUT it was about time for something to happen so you're off the hook on that one:)

ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me?! Okay... let me count to ten and take a DEEP breath. I don't want to say anything that will get me shutdown. Absolutely disgusting.
So is Harry Osterman's Kathy's kid? It seems like a step down to go from a state representative job to a city alderman but not in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteHe is and it is but not to him. The ward needs help, he has great ideas and he'll get to be home more with his family, so perhaps it isn't a step down to him. Than we have 4 others running as well. I do think Harry has it bagged though. He's well liked, out and about in the neighborhood and sponsors a lot of good things in the neighborhood.
