Man Robbed at Gunpoint for $5 in Chatham

Early this morning, a man was robbed near 8600 South Indiana Avenue in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood. The robbery occurred around 3:30 a.m.

The victim was accosted by four African-American men in a Maroon four-door compact car.

One suspect is about 5’6", 180 lbs, has a light complexion, and his hair was styled in dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a scarf over his face. This man was also armed with a black semiautomatic handgun.

A second offender was described as 5’10", 150 lbs, with a light complexion. He was wearing a black jacket, jeans, and a ski mask.

The victim wasn’t able to describe the other perpetrators.

Police said the thieves stole the complainant's cell phone, $5.00, and a wallet. After the robbery, the crooks in the maroon vehicle fled the scene westbound on East 86th Street from Indiana Avenue.

  1. "Cell phones and money" ...seems we're not suppose to go out with either anymore. $5 bucks, tough to divide that between 4 people.

  2. This is why law abiding citizens should have the right to carry concealed weapons. If these cowardly punks knew there was a chance their victims were armed, I bet the crime rate in Chicago would plummet.
