Car Crash in NW Side Avondale Neighborhood: Woman Goes Through Windshield, Flees the Scene

Police are looking for a woman who crashed a “stolen” vehicle, flew through the windshield, and somehow managed to flee the scene.

The bizarre incident was reported around 2:48 a.m.

I wasn’t able to get the exact location of the car crash, but the following intersections were mentioned over the police radio: Diversey and Kimball, Diversey and Christiana, and Diversey and Spaulding.

Officers were instructed to block the intersections of Diversey and Kimball and Diversey and Spaulding. So, the accident probably happened in the vicinity of 2800 North Christiana.

According to witnesses, a Hispanic woman was thrown through the van’s windshield. Before fleeing the scene, she allegedly told bystanders the vehicle was stolen.

Authorities ran the license plate and said the Chevy van belongs to an owner on the 2500 block of West Moffat Street.
