At 12:45 a.m., police officers were called the 8600 block of South Marquette Avenue in Chicago’s South Chicago neighborhood to investigate a “shots fired” 911 call.
Witnesses said a dark colored vehicle with a white hood and a green or blue car were seen fleeing the area. Eyewitnesses also said six African-American men were seen running towards a house on the southwest corner of the 8600 block of South Marquette Avenue.
At 12:52 a.m., a police officer chased a male suspect wearing a black and red flannel jacket. The offender was running southbound on the 8600 block of South Muskegon Avenue.
Moments later, at 12:53 a.m., the suspect shot at the police officer in pursuit. The officer was not shot.
A police helicopter was on the scene at 1 a.m.
As of 1:28 a.m. no arrests have been made.
