Man shot in the back on Northwest Side

A man was rushed to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital by a “friend” after being shot on Chicago’s Northwest Side
.
The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. near the intersection of North Campbell and West Bloomingdale Avenues, which is approximately 1700 North Campbell.

The shooting victim was in a white van when someone fired several shots at the vehicle, striking the victim in the back.

Police found what appeared to 22 caliber shell casings in the street underneath a nearby viaduct.

Witnesses saw two male Hispanics on bikes fleeing the crime scene.

One suspect was described as skinny and was last seen wearing a red or black hat. A second possible offender is heavy-set and was wearing a white hat.

Authorities identified the shooting victim as a "D", which I assume means Disciple. The shooters were also said to be “D’s” from a rival Chicago neighborhood.

  1. African-Americans and Hispanics...great, we are in for a scary summer with the thugs in these two cultures prowling every neighborhood in the city. I say we start filling up the Thompson prison with ALL of them so the rest of the city can actually enjoy our summer without worrying about becoming a victim! Civil rights my ass, what about OUR civil rights?

  2. All signs point to a very violent summer. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

  3. Yup, definitely will be a violent summer. About a block away from the shooting on April 11 at 3:00am there was a car speeding down Maplewood Avenue towards Wabansia lost control and ended up totaling two cars. Pretty sure it was two gang members too.
