The shooting occurred around 1:42 a.m. at 147 West 75th Street in Chicago’s West Chatham neighborhood. The address belongs to Hawks MC.
One man was reportedly shot in the head. Sources say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police also found a woman lying in the middle of the street at 7511 South Perry Avenue. The woman had been shot.
At least five of the seven shooting victims were found inside the bar.
Authorities said the shooter belongs to a motorcycle gang called "The Street Soldiers"; he has dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a red and black vest, or jacket.
January 4, 2011, first-degree murder charges were brought against 27-year-old Charles Ervin of the 8200 block of South Wolcott Avenue. Police have charged Ervin with the murders of 38-year-old Emmit Suddoth and 39-year-old Bryant Glass.
The convicted felon has also been charged with the unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated battery charges with a handgun, said Chicago Breaking News.
Subsequent news reports have indicated Hawks MC was selling liquor without a license.
"Killed were 38-year-old Emmitt Suddoth, of the 9500 block of South Union Avenue, and Bryant Glass, 39, authorities said. Suddoth was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 2:28 a.m., and Glass was dead on the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office."
ReplyDeletevery sad. :-(
Perhaps bars need to start having their bouncers pat patrons down to catch the guns BEFORE they are carried inside. It's done at the airports now so why not bars? Most of our rights have been systematically stripped away anyhow so what's the difference? Could prevent things like this from happening in the future. Those carrying a weapon will not enter the bar.
ReplyDeleteif the words motorcycle club and bar are in the same sentence that's a red flag
ReplyDeleteEspecially after E2, avoidance of bars, clubs, lounges, etc. is the safer, logical option.
ReplyDeleteI stopped going to bars about 10 years ago. Fools and booze don't mix well.
ReplyDeleteThought you might wanna read this Fitz:
ReplyDeleteA 27-year-old man was charged this morning for the shooting deaths of two Hawks Motorcycle Club members who were killed Sunday on the South Side, police said.
Charles Ervin of the 8200 block of South Wolcott Avenue has been charged with two counts of first degree murder for the deaths of Emmit Suddoth, 38, and Bryant Glass, 39, police said.
Ervin also was charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and five counts of aggravated battery with a firearm for shooting five others, police said.
Hey Fitz,
ReplyDeletedid you know that Emmit Suddoth was the cousin of Connie Woolfolk. Connie Woolfolk was a Lane Bryant victim. It was said that she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I believe she was visiting Rhoda Mcfarland the mgr. of the store. Rhoda Mcfarland, and Emmit Suddoth had something in common, Mortgage fraud. Its the kind of mortgage fraud you need to investigate. I don't believe robbery was the motive at Lane Bryant. I also believe Emmit Suddoth was also the victim of a hit man. So what do ya think Fitz. . . ?
Hey anonymous, this shooting had nothing to do with a hit man. Your statement is a direct example of how rumors get started. The shooter was being attacked at knife point and was acting in self defence. It is so unfortunate that so many innocent people were injured. But unless you are a member of the biker community you would never understrand. So please don't tell anybody else that story. While it may or may not be true that he was involved in mortgage fraud, that was not the cause of his demise.
ReplyDeleteThis aint have nothing to do with mortgage fraud. This happened because The Street Soliders MC trying to bring their Outlaw club to illinois and were out visiting with the Hawks... They ran into the Wheels of Soul Outlaws... then boom they all think they Sons Of Anarchy!
ReplyDelete"Hey Fitz, did you know that Emmit Suddoth was the cousin of Connie Woolfolk."
ReplyDeleteThat an interesting connection and a startling coincidence. Mmm....
Emmit Suddoth knew that the Lane Bryant incident was not a random robbery because he told the media and others. He could not tell why he felt that way because he would implicate himself. Connie Woolfolk was also a Loan Officer and I'm sure her and Emmit worked on some deals together. They both had enemies. I'm sure Emmit did business with club members and members from other clubs. How would you feel if you closed on a house and Emmit walked away with 50 thou at closing and you walked away with little or nothing and a foreclosed home on your credit report. The Straw Buyers new the deals were shady and could not call the police. Emmit Suddoth had 6 co-defendant's and thats 6 he could have told on. I can hear Patrick Fitzgerald now "help me convict the others and I will help you a stay out of jail".
ReplyDeleteWhich is the Puppet Master, one of the Straw Buyers or Co-Defendants. Emmit knew but he wasn't tellin. . .
First of all I am a Street Soldier and knowone was trying to bring a outlaw club to chicago we are just hard working men who love to ride motorcycles and that is it this is a sad event that we wished didnt happen because now its giving the rest of the club a bad name and that is what we are not
ReplyDeleteA what happen was sad but what's even sadder is that it was people that was in that club that could've stopped this shit before it happen he was approached about something that was on his vest ru 4 real black men's we need to grow up and stop killing one another
ReplyDeleteFIRST OFF I WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU CAN RESPECT MY PPL FOR Annonymous how dare you speak of Connie and Emmit in this way. You so bold bitch put your name out on here say this to they families. You got problem with them was you there you got all the answers about what happend to Connie give her mother her children some peace at night, some closure. Then to speak of Ms.Rhoda that way thats not why she was going there.I knew Connie And Emmmit very well. My sister worked at the store if it was notfor her going back to back to school early she would have been dead also. you grow up and show some respect love yall connie and emmit LAtrishia
ReplyDeleteMaybe you told your sister not to go to Lane Bryant that day because you also knew what was going on. You know something and you should tell it for the sake of the others who were murdered that day.
ReplyDeleteEverybody missed the point. It's between clubs. None of you internet loudmouths know anything about what really went down or why. Speculate all you want. You know something we don't? Please, by all means, leave your Christian name and say it. That's what I thought.
ReplyDeleteNo offense but if you knew something why didn't you or anyone else step up to the plate, no everyone had lock jaw.
DeleteBRYANT GLASS was a great person an he was a great friend of mine an he didnt deserve to die i wish people could solve there problem differently i will miss him dearly RIP BROTHER. LUV QUEEN
ReplyDeleteThanks Bee.I'm Bryant's sister and that's true.I Still very upset these were suppose to be his friends.I am out raged!! I can't believe they did what they did.I know the whole story.
Deletethat is my guy that got charged with the shooting and although he could be a live wire I been know bo(charles ervin) since 1994 and he was and is one of the moes from my deck (moe-town) now this motorcycle club may be some extra shyt but I doubt that he woulda done spmthing like that unless he was being threatened he's younger than me and kept me outta trouble a real level headed guy ....moe is going to be missed ...............
ReplyDeleteI am also a friend of Bo's. It is unfortunate that people are making him out to be some kind of monster and that he is the only one being fingered for this unfortunate incident. Truth is, Bo was well known by many of the Hawks, and frequented their clubhouse often. It is a fact, that the Street Soldiers had recruited Bo to start an Illinois Chapter, without the blessing of other clubs. He was approached in the Hawks clubhouse by several armed members of the wheels of Soul M.C. regarding the "Illinois" patch on the rear of his vest. I Have seen this patch on Bo's Vest with my Own Eyes. So to whomever blogged and said That they were not trying to start an illinois chapter is a liar. He was threatened with a knife as well as guns. Whatever transpired after that was self defense. Bo may not be the best citizen, but he wouldn't just kill for no reason. He is a great father and outstanding genorous Friend. I will miss him while he is Locked Down.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Their is more evidence of other shooters that wasn't mentioned in reports, because Bo was the only person caught by CPD. Also, several of the victims had bullets from guns that did not match the .45 Glock that Bo was allegedly Carrying. Hmmmmmmm.
IT IS VERY SAD THAT EVERYONE IS SAYING MC ARE ALL GANG MEMBERS THAT'S NOT WHAT WE REPRESENT AT ALL I NEED PEOPLE TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUTLAWS AND MC PLEASE STOP CONFUSING THE TWO AN VIOLENCE HAPPENS EVERYDAY RATHER U WEARING A VEST OR WALKING DOWN THE STREET I DON'
ReplyDeleteT JUSTIFY WHAT HAPPENED BUT STOP LABELING EVERYONE
i knwow bo also off of 53 paulina and he will be missed ......
ReplyDeleteallways miss you B. Thinking 'dout how Chris is doin'....You'd be glad i left Kraft my brother...and blaa... blaa... blaa...you have been my inspiration for many (and the way) I make decisions in my life. b b
ReplyDeleteGlad my brother could be a inspiration to you.He was to many,In this situation it just shows you to be very selective who you associate yourself with or as my parents taught us(your inner circle).glad you have moved on and he would be proud of you.Much success to you.Bryant's sister
ReplyDeleteAs the Son of Emmit Suddoth it is very sad to see post about my Dad's death taken out of content. I have visited this page for a few years now and never could say anything and I am still speechless but I have prayed for some of you as well as me and I hope to some authors on here that have written a story of speculations that immediate death do not come to you and or your family member and your or their kids never have to read anything of speculations like I have to read. Thank you all
ReplyDeleteDid any of you shit talking niggers ever show up these honky posters? Didn't think so, apes
ReplyDeleteThis is a late comment but one which needs to be heard......first off Motorcycle Clubs are NOT GANGS, what happened was very unfortunate for all parties involved and I can say this for I am apart of this culture and I cant tell you that the victims and alledged shooter wère NOT troublemakers....you have a few people IN ALL WALKS OF LIFE that like mayhem & this is what stains the MC community, other than that those in Motorcycle Clubs are regular hardworking people.....youde be surprised whos under the helmet if youde not be so judgemental....& the person who made the "hitman" comment is nuts to think this incident had any correlation to what happened in Layne Bryant...get real!
ReplyDeleteWow! it has been 5 yrs! Emmitt Suddoth was my friend. A sweet loving guy that loved his mom, son and sisters! I miss him.
