An 11-year-old child was robbed on Chicago’s south side.
The incident was reported at 7:16 p.m. and occurred near 7500 South Racine Avenue in Chicago’s Gresham neighborhood.
The little boy had just left a neighborhood store at 7555 South Racine, when he was approached by three suspects. One of the offenders was described as an adult.
According to the young victim, one of the muggers pulled a gun and struck him with the weapon. Then the thieves stole a bag of chips and two snack-sized cakes.
Authorities described one of the perpetrators as a 14-year-old male wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt and a black winter vest. The remaining assailants were dressed in all black clothing.
The child was not seriously injured and refused EMS, said police.

"One of the offenders was described as an adult" Teaching the kids the ropes I see! The victim probably didn't want medical attention because he was afraid!
ReplyDeleteI feel so badly for that kid. He's probably traumatized.
ReplyDeleteWhere's Father Phleger?
ReplyDeleteThere are other "adult" ways to teach kids about crime. Of course, kids shouldn't grow up in crime ridden areas, because of the poor choices their parents made. :(
Some of us need to take a crash-course in reality. Some are poor not because of poor choices their parents made, it may be because of societies failure and they are simply collateral damage.
ReplyDeleteIt is the height of irresponsibility to give birth to children if the best you can do is to live in a third world neighborhood like the one described here.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to be an "urban pioneer", that should be YOUR choice, for YOU to suffer the consequences for. But to give birth to a child when you know you live in a hell hole is a very selfish and borderline child abuse act.
Ladies, keep your legs closed (or buy batteries in bulk) until you can find a man that can provide a safe environment for you and the children you will have together.
fauxnick8tor, I couldn't have said any better if I tried!
ReplyDeleteMy "...poor choices..." statement refers to living in a bad neighborhood and having children there. Being a Native Chicagoan, I have reality crash courses daily!
ReplyDeleteHell holes are all over chicago. Nobody can afford not be violent these days.

Yes, Chicago always had hell holes, but not the current level of violence. Violence is a free will, not an economic choice!
ReplyDeleteIts alot of armchair quarter backing going on. I really would like to see more healthy dialogue towards solutions and understanding than comments with no purpose amongst people who sit around and point fingers at the problem. fyi this goes on in the black community too. I figured there would be more mature conversation from people who are "so outraged".
ReplyDeleteThis only applies to any and all offended by it.
Anonymous, the only one sitting around pointing fingers and arm-chairing is you. One day, you will be enraged enough for mature conversation in real solutions, not the same failed solutions which include understanding, of the past forty years.
ReplyDeleteSorry sir...im in these areas amongst the people talkin to those who will listen. Im a walkin example of a working man and business owner who doesnt have to depend on the negative aspects of life to make it. Thats why im tryin to show that there are good people in bad situations.
ReplyDeletePeople who murder and rape aren't good people in bad situations.
ReplyDeletePeople who murder and/or injure robbery victims aren't good people in bad situations either. I'm commenting on what I read on this blog. Jesse Jackson and others make their livelihoods, on those negative aspects.
