Purse Snatching: Near North Side Woman Thrown to the Ground

Around 7:01 p.m., a woman on Chicago’s Near North Side was thrown to the ground during a strong-arm robbery.

Police said the incident occurred near the intersection of West Superior Street and North Wabash Avenue. The crime scene is just steps away from The Fordham condominiums at 25 East Superior.

The complainant said an African-American male, approximately 17-years-old and 5‘6“, slammed her to the ground and snatched her purse.

The thief was wearing a navy blue down jacket, a Chicago Bears winter hat, and big black boots.

Authorities said the thief stole a leopard print handbag. It’s unclear if the purse contained $1,400.00 or that is the value of the stolen handbag. But that dollar amount was mentioned over the police radio.

  1. I'd bet money that these ghetto thugs would beat the crap out of their own mother because clearly, that have no respect for women...or anyone else for that matter. It's a shame to have to be looking over your shoulder when you're out but I would say that in the current criminal environment of Chicago, EVERYONE walking about SHOULD have their cells phone ready to dial 911 and be LOOKING over their shoulder. If you see someone that MAY look suspicious, call 911 and tell them you're being followed...watch what happens when the cops shop up..they'll scatter. Perhaps IF we all start doing this, we won't be their next victim! I'm going to start doing this. That and my pepper spray is my ONLY line of defense..isn't that pathetic?
    Sure wouldn't mind carrying a 38 special!
