Chicago Police Officer Accused of Taking Man’s Credit, Debit Card

At 9:24 p.m., a man called 911 to report that a Chicago police officer took his credit or debit card. The man said his property was taken during a traffic stop on the 6400 block of South Maplewood Ave.

Although a location was given, a timeframe for the event was not mentioned.

After the complainant’s initial call, dispatch asked the officers if any of them made a traffic stop in the area where the card was reportedly taken.

No one responded.

At 9:51 p.m., the man, who was identified as a Mr. Morgan, called and asked to speak to a supervisor.

Around 10:35 p.m., a supervisor instructed dispatch to ask the officers about the credit card, again.

Again, no one responded.

A few days ago, other officers working in the 7th district, were accused of taking a man's state ID and refusing to give it back. The officers in question, adamantly denied keeping the man's property; claiming that the man only had a work ID, which they promptly gave back.
