Children Playing With Toy Gun, Put Police and Community on Alert
Police were called after a group of teenagers were seen playing with a gun.
A group of 12 to 15-year-olds (3 boys and 4 girls), were spotted on the 5900 block of South Tripp Ave., in Chicago's West Lawn neighborhood, playing with what looked like a real gun.
According to the 911 caller, the children were passing the gun around, pointing it at each other, and aiming it at passing cars.
Around 4:35 p.m., an officer arrived on the scene. He asked dispatch to give him a description of the children, again. After a brief investigation, the officer announced that the gun was a toy, and had been confiscated by one of the teen's mothers.
The mom took the gun and broke it in half.
