Three males, described as teenagers, are in police custody after they allegedly threw chunks of ice and rocks at passing cars on the city’s North Side.
Starting around 7:45 p.m., a 911 caller reported a group of teens throwing objects at passing cars near the intersection of North California and West Touhy Avenues, in West Rogers Park.
A few minutes later, another emergency call indicated a vehicle driving through an alley near North Francisco and West Touhy Avenues was struck with chunks of ice.
According to police, three teens threw the ice from a nearby rooftop.
When officers arrived at Francisco and Touhy, three Hispanic males were seen fleeing the scene.
One offender was immediately taken into custody.
The other two suspects were apprehended near North Washtenaw and Chase Avenues, around 7:55 p.m.
Apparently, an alert citizen saw the teens running in the area and contacted authorities.
At approximately 8:02 p.m., the victim whose car was attacked at Francisco and Touhy, positively identified all three suspects, said police.
