Ravenswood store clerk attacked, robbed at gunpoint

Sunday, authorities were investigating an armed robbery in Chicago’s North Side, Ravenswood neighborhood.

At approximately 9:34 p.m., two gunmen robbed a clerk at Windy City Liquors, 4959 North Damen Avenue, near Damen and Argyle, said police.

An initial 911 call indicated the thieves also “beat” the clerk.

The robbers -- who were wearing masks -- were described as 6’3” and wearing dark-colored clothing.

According to authorities, because the assailants’ faces were covered, the store clerk couldn’t identify the gunmen’s races.

After the robbery, the thugs fled eastbound on Argyle Street, then northbound on Winchester Avenue.

At the time of this report, the crooks were still at large.

UPDATE:  After reviewing surveillance footage of the robbery, police determined one offender was wearing a blue coat, gray hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, and a black knitted ski cap. Authorities did not identify this suspect's race.

The second offender, who is believed to be White or Hispanic, is 18 to 25-years-old, about 150 lbs, and he was wearing a black and white Chicago Bears jacket with a letter "C" on the front and the word "Bears" on the back.

Authorities said the offender wearing the Bears jacket was also carrying a wooden club.

  2. I know man. They fled eastbound on Argyle. Starving artists are obviously craving more than food these days.
