Report: Uptown Columbus Day shooter aims at dog walker

A man walking a dog in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood suddenly found himself dodging bullets, said police.

At 5:40 p.m., authorities received several calls of shots fired on the 800 block of West Lawrence Avenue, near Lawrence and Marine Drive.

Subsequent reports indicated multiple shots were fired from a dark-colored, four-door vehicle travelling southbound on Marine Drive from Lawrence.

However, according to several eyewitnesses, a black male passenger fired several shots at a man walking an Alaskan Husky near Sheridan and Lawrence.

Police described the intended victim as a black male wearing a black hat and a hooded sweatshirt.

Tipsters described the getaway car as a black, brand new Chevy Impala.

Authorities said the offending vehicle was last seen going southbound on Lake Shore Drive from Lawrence.

At the time of this report, officials were still searching for the Columbus Day drive-by shooter.

So far, no injuries or property damage have been reported.
