Rogers Park: Fire on Pratt Boulevard

Late Wednesday night, police and fire officials were investigating smoke coming from a 14-floor high rise in Chicago's Far North Side Rogers Park community.

According to preliminary information, the fire, which was reported around 10:06 p.m., was inside a sixth floor stairwell at 1246 West Pratt Boulevard, near Sheridan and Pratt.

Citing police communications, authorities blocked east and westbound traffic on Pratt while firefighters worked scene.

"Someone set a bag of garbage on fire in the hallway," said an officer at the scene. "There are no displacements."
