UPDATE: 3 displaced by Ravenswood fire; no injuries

As a result of a fire in Chicago’s North Side Ravenswood community, several people are without a home, said police.

The Monday, August 13, 2012, fire erupted around 11:28 p.m. on the 4400 block of North Rockwell Street, near Rockwell and Montrose.

Citing preliminary information, the fire started inside a 3rd floor apartment at 4414 North Rockwell Street. 

Initially, authorities said a woman in her 20s was transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital for smoke inhalation... but officials later said the woman was not taken to the hospital.

According to the last update, three people were displaced by the fire.

Sh*tcago could balance it's budget by the end of the quarter by having SOME type of city building code (i.e. requiring landlords to have smoke detectors in their buildings via inspections and occupancy certificates) but it seems red-light cameras and cigarette taxes are the easier route to $$$$. No wonder they're all so fat here. They'd have a heart attack trying to make it to a 3rd floor walk-up inspection.
