Around 2:42 a.m., two women, identified as roommates, were physically assaulted after leaving a Boystown, Lakeview neighborhood bar, said police.
The victims were leaving Hydrate, 3458 North Halsted Street, when a man attacked them on corner of Halsted and Cornelia, said authorities.
The assailant ambushed the women from behind, said a responding officer.
Investigators described the attacker as a black male with a medium complexion in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5’9” to 6-feet-tall. The suspect was wearing a blue CUBS jersey, said police.
When asked if the attack was related to a robbery, one investigator said the man seem to attack the women for no apparent reason.
The victims were transported to Thorek hospital in unknown condition.
At 3:26 a.m., a man listening to a police scanner said he saw he the suspect walking westbound on Eddy Street from Seminary Avenue.

Hmmm, Hydrate receives special police attention and protection so Im surprised a beat car wasnt parked on the corner in front.
ReplyDeleteThe blatant special protection isnt due to any specific problem but they must pay off the cops.
Every Boystown bar should be as fortunate to have a police unit detailed to the front door and flirting with the doorboys.
If you dont believe this, go park yourself in the front window at Little Jims and watch the police in front of Hydrate.
lololol you drink at little jims? Fancy some old balls, do ya?
DeleteI hope this discourages broads from always being in gay bars. They are cockblockers and unwanted.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I always thought it was strange that you'd see 4 squad cars in front of that place on any given night. Even if it were a place I'd want to hang out at, I wouldn't for that reason alone. It reeks of trouble.
ReplyDeleteThis gay community here has so many problems (5:57's) comment is another big issue, it's too far gone.
It's almost sad how you'd see some of those workers out there busting their 24/7 to hang on to their legit, non-trouble making loyal clientele. I'm sure it was much easier for them decades ago. I tried to support them but gave up. Truly, I felt sorry for them. Lying to your face didn't help much either I must say.
And some of those bars NEED special detail at but they sure can't have that type of "attention" at their front doors.
It's greed. Rather than staying true to their roots, they took on any and all which resulted in a wilted/faded rainbow flag akin to a puddle of melted neopolitan ice cream on a scorching sidewalk on a 95 degree day. A big pile of colorful goo.
My how times have changed.
And to watch these places and their employees turn into nothing but a sideshow for these lonely, straight females. They don't think the guys are "cute" or "hot" (those days are long gone for most), they only think they're "funny" and they continue to let this condescension happen for a $. This trend will pass someday too though. Show some true PRIDE.
ReplyDeleteI don't get this old queen who keeps writing about the bartenders "lying" to him. He never provides specifics of anything that makes sense. He just implies that somehow he has been wronged. It's not up to bartenders and bar owners to make him feel good about himself...they are there to serve drinks.
ReplyDeleteIt is Eddy St, not Eddie St.
ReplyDeleteHydrate caters to bachelorette parties. It is good business. I am sure there are other nightlife options in the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteHave the police questioned Ronnie Woo?
ReplyDeleteOther options? SarahTrack where straight couples from Lincoln Park assume we all have coke to sell them? Or the employees that assume we came there to get referred to the 24/7 Loveshack/gym down the way? Or assume we are desperate too and will meet them there? Or maybe Bucks where even the old mans haven has been taken over by heifers that couldn't get a dance at the bad wedding on Saturday night? Then they all head over to Roscoes? Lil Jim's and the the murder that originated from that after hours place in 2004? No wonder the gays don't acknowledge each other here in the daylight. They're scurred to death of each other and for good reason.
ReplyDeleteI passed the rainbow towers today. I recall the guy here that said they'll soon be unbolted and sold for scrap metal. I had to laugh when I read that but it's probably harsh reality.
(And guy above.....you are absolutely right. Bartenders are there to serve drinks - nothing more, nothing less. I pay, you serve. You be nice, I tip. And they need to be reminded of that).
What are you even talking about? Go see a doctor...
DeleteGoogle Kevin Clewer. Not that it's a particular bars fault (it could have happened anywhere out there) but have fun, be responsible, be safe, be aware of your surroundings and who you're associating with and what their motives are. Question your own as well. If you're not into drugs, after a while the strange behavior out there all comes into place.
ReplyDeleteHey old fool @3:32PM and 3:58PM...we can all see why a bartender would not want to talk to you. You are a rambling, incoherent psycho. I'm in college and working for tips and I assure you I don't want you as a customer and I don't want your tips. You need to either increase or decrease your dose of meds.
