Alleged beggar ‘goes crazy’ at West Rogers Park pizza place

Sunday, police responded to a disturbance at a pizzeria in Chicago’s West Ridge, West Rogers Park neighborhood.

An 8:22 p.m. police dispatch report indicated a man was “going crazy” inside Villa Palermo Pizza and Catering at 2154 West Devon Avenue, near Devon and Leavitt.

The suspect was described as a black man in his 20s wearing a blue shirt.

Subsequent information suggested the man was angry because the restaurant refused to give him free food.

By 8:25 p.m., Chicago police officers brought the situation under control.

It’s unclear if the suspect was arrested.

  1. This is a shame, since his ancestors were likely slaves he is entitled to free food. These restaurant owners do not know how difficult it is to overcome the oppression that slavery has placed on him.

  2. Oh Please. They get enough FREE stuff. Perhaps he could have offered to clean or something. Part of the problem now days is the entitlement mentality. How about doing some volunteer work for those freebies????

  3. I refer bums to Pantera Cares when they want "coffee" or "food", then they fucking refuse, even if they're right across the street from it.
Fuck, I'll show up in shitty clothes and eat $15 worth of yuppie food for a quarter.

  4. Not news. This is a recurring scene any night at the Walgreen's @ Belmont/Broadway. The Courtney Iowa transplants in line think this is "funny" and "entertaining" in the big city. I told them it's not "funny" when one of them goes off an bloodys someone (as they sometimes do).

    1. You know what is "funny"? Your pathetic understanding of life in Chicago. Why don't you grab some workout weights, tie them around your waist, and jump in the lake?

      That way, everybody wins
