Umbrella used as weapon in Edgewater robbery

A female robber used her umbrella as a weapon during a North Side, Edgewater neighborhood mugging, said police.

Around 1:45 a.m., a woman was robbed near the intersection of 1100 West Hollywood and 5700 North Winthrop Avenues, said police.

Authorities noted the address of occurrence as 5706 North Winthrop Avenue.

The offenders, who were described as a black female and a black male, stole the victim’s purse, said police.

The female suspect is 20 to 25-years-old, about 5’8” with “long legs” and a ponytail.

The male suspect is also believed to be 20 to 25-years-old and he is approximately 5’3”.

According to investigators, the female assailant stabbed the victim in the back with the tip of a blue and white umbrella.

The umbrella left a small puncture wound on the victim’s back, said police.

Citing police communications, the North Side muggers were last seen running northbound on Winthrop.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.

At the time of this report, police were canvassing the area looking for the victim's purse.

  2. ^ In Chicago anyway. I had to tell a snaggle toothed bus driver the other day that she "needs to get that dirt off her shoulder" while brushing my shoulder at the same time. It shut her up and I think she nearly fell out of her seat.

    I know some classy, beautiful, articulate, well-spoken black women. Never met one here though and I've been here quite a while.
