Cops: Gunman follows woman into Lincoln Park apt. building

An armed suspect followed a woman into a North Side apartment building, said police.

At approximately 9:53 p.m., authorities responded to a person with a gun call at 633 West Deming Place, in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Citing police communications, a male black suspect with a light complexion and short hair followed a woman into the building.

The woman reportedly told police she thought the man lived there, but she became alarmed when she noticed he was carrying a silver gun.

The gunman was described as thin, 24-years-old, and about 5’10”.

The offender was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head and dark-colored jeans.

Via the last update, the suspect fled the area on foot.

No further details are available.

UPDATE: Police are calling the incident an attempted robbery. No proceeds were taken and there is no indication the victim was injured.

  1. I think women should take self defense classes to learn how to properly protect themselves. There have been several times I have had people behind me while entering my apt. building....I am aware they are there. If I don't recognize them I step back like I am pretending to make a call ... many times those people don't live in the building.

  2. Unfortunately, you just don't know anymore with the "90% pay market rate, and 10% pay......(well nothing). Don't want to offend or unnerve here in Chicago.
