  1. Wow. Old Town has become a ghetto too? I used to live near there in the 90s while in college. I used to walk late at night by myself and never felt unsafe. In any city, people should be careful and use common sense. Are these people coming from Inglewood? I used to love going to Treasure Island to shop for my groceries.

I would like express sympathy to the hard working people of Chicago who want to live in a safe, clean, and nice city. The best thing to do is for the communities to gather and not let the thugs ruin your neighborhoods. Call the police every time you see a suspicious person. And be aware of your surroundings!

Good luck fellow Chicagoans! I don't live in Illinois anymore but my family still does.

  2. Busy night for a Monday. Very surprised about a shooting in Old Town. The ghettos know no boundaries. Thanks for the frequent updates CNR. You are better than the local news.

  3. You are totally clueless if you think it is even physically possible for anyone to call the police everytime a suspicious person is seen. The spooks are roaming free as predators in every neighborhood, intimidating everyone they come in contact with, robbing, beating, killing, and creating chaos. On any given day just commuting to work, I see a minimum of dozens of spooks who are all "suspicious"...how do I report all of them to the police?

  4. Do you idiots not know that the Cabrini Green row houses on Chicago Ave and that section 8 complex Marshall Field Gardens on Sedgewick is still part of the River North-Old Town-Near North Side area? Sammys is a ghetto ass spot full of welfare warriors. Who do you think is doing all the iPhone snatchings over there? Dumbasses!

  5. I live in the neighborhood and we're going to see more of this come summer. These kids have been roaming around the neighborhood for years, but now instead of them being a harmless group of 10, 11, and 12-year olds just goofing around, they're 13, 14, and 15-year olds and apparently guns are involved now. Not good. Especially since school is still in session.

  7. Some property was for sale right at the Sedgewick train stop. The guy interested was worried about the screeching sound of the trains at the curve. I told him that would probably be drowned out by the sounds of people screaming "Oh, my phone. My phone!" and should be more concerned about that.

Of the maybe 3 times I utilized that stop in the past YEAR, I saw witnessed two phone snatchings. One at dusk and the other in broad daylight.

World Class City? And, once again, this is hyped as one of the "better" neighborhoods. They're all looking more and more the same by the day.

  8. The only reason I go to that "neighborhood" is for the The Spice House. Now, if you people can't get it together, I'll just start ordering online from rafalspicecompany.com (pretty much the same thing happened to them - just sayin'....).

A guy I am dating tied a tourniquet around the guys leg that was just shot near the Target in Uptown recently so I ordered what I had anticipated going there to pick-up that night.......online (just sayin' II).

So, I'm just curious.....do the Section 8 in "Old Town" patronize the businesses on Wells St.?
