Wednesday evening, a male suspect robbed a woman at gunpoint in Chicago’s increasingly violent Uptown neighborhood, said police.
The North Side robbery occurred on the 900 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, somewhere between Sheridan and Broadway, according to police dispatch.
The suspect was described as a male black wearing a white shirt or jacket, and blue jeans.
One eyewitness account indicated the thief has a large build.
Investigators said the crook, who was last seen running eastbound on Belle Plaine Avenue, stole the woman’s computer bag and her iPhone.
At 7:17 p.m., officers detained a possible suspect and brought him back to crime scene for a “show up”.
However, the victim did not identify him as the man who robbed her and the detainee was released.
The offender may have fled the scene in a red, four-door Chevy Malibu.

The mugger must've spotted her with her iPhone out - and then his eyes lit up with dollar $igns!
ReplyDeletecoward, going after a woman
ReplyDeleteI thought there was a citywide "gun ban" here?
ReplyDeleteThe gun ban only applies to law abiding citizens.
ReplyDeleteOh, got it. Thanks for the clarification. Time for decent law abiding guys to leave Shitcago then. Best of Luck!
ReplyDeleteInstead of leaving Chicago, law abiding citizens should take back the city from the effing mongrels that roam the streets and live in Section 8 housing.
ReplyDeleteIt's waaaaaay to late for that, bud. Just like Halsted St. They let it go waaaaaay to far.....to the point of no return.
ReplyDeleteNip it in the bud. Nip it in the bud.
Everyone write your reps/ senators/ and the republicans tell them the horrors of subsidised housing. Tell them of the failure of subsidised housing, how the people were supposed to assimilate into the rea but instead they turned it into the area they left. Tell them u want the HUD budget cut so that there is only enough for seniors, vets and people with mental and physical disabilities. This will force the CHA to reduce the number of vouchers and sell their buildings to private companies. The baby mamas who are the beneficiaries of subsidised housing have criminal relatives and boyfriends that target the area and they also live with them.
ReplyDeleteSection 8 and subsidised housing is funded federally not through the city(for those who didn't know). SO COMPLAINING TO THE CITY IS A WASTE OF TIME.
Everytime there is a budget battle contact them and tell them to cut the HUD BUDGET.
Support Paul Ryan's budget to cut food stamps and other welfare programs that promotes over breeding by lowincome, low intelligence uneducated men and women who produce the spawn who do all the wyldings and crime.
To the above post...well said. Couldn't agree with you more.
ReplyDeleteThe neighborhood is Buena Park.
ReplyDeleteIt's still Uptown. You can put lipstick on a pig by putting the word "park" in all these places but it doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteMargate "Park" seems to want to fancy itself up and away from Uptown too. Doesn't work.
That lil' strip of useless junk along Clark street labeled Andersonville seems to be getting it's name used to stretch it's borders all around Edgewater by the minute (especially for the real estate/housing $ scam here). Doesn't work.
Most of us can see through it.
