South Side activist fights crime with his camera?

Fed up with crime in his area, a South Side, Chicago community activist is using his camera to reclaim his neighborhood.

On March 21, 2012, several male suspects were arrested at 6112 South St. Lawrence Avenue after a citizen photographed them allegedly carrying guns and drugs, according to the creator of Take Back Woodlawn, a Facebook community page.

We are doing better community policing, check out these pictures, we got these guys arrested, said TBW.

  1. Very nice, but the photographer needs to be careful releasing these photos publicly. Thugs are on the internet too, and may stumble across them. They might even be Everyblock readers...

  2. We have expressed our concern, as well, but he doesn't seem the least bit worried.

  6. GDNs are all bitchesMarch 26, 2012 at 10:40 AM

To the "GDN Biitch" at 4:04 am (hey, at least you realize that you're their bitch, that's all you are).

So all you do is try to survive, not live? No wonder you gangbangers suck, no wonder that no respectable people want anything to do with you.

I guess to you, "survival" includes multiple prison stints in your teens & 20's, and a violent death before you hit age 30.

Wow, what a great life you live (btw, I'm being facetious, your life sounds like it absolutely sucks).

I look forward to you & your "homies" becoming statistics, shortly. As in, "4 niqger members of the GDN gang were shot to death in Woodlawn this weekend . . . "

  7. Everyone write your reps/ senators/ and the republicans tell them the horrors of subsidised housing. Tell them of the failure of subsidised housing, how the people were supposed to assimilate into the rea but instead they turned it into the area they left. Tell them u want the HUD budget cut so that there is only enough for seniors, vets and people with mental and physical disabilities. This will force the CHA to reduce the number of vouchers and sell their buildings to private companies. The baby mamas who are the beneficiaries of subsidised housing have criminal relatives and boyfriends that target the area and they also live with them.
Section 8 and subsidised housing is funded federally not through the city(for those who didn't know). SO COMPLAINING TO THE CITY IS A WASTE OF TIME.

Everytime there is a budget battle contact them and tell them to cut the HUD BUDGET.

Support Paul Ryan's budget to cut food stamps and other welfare programs that promotes over breeding by lowincome, low intelligence uneducated men and women who produce the spawn who do all the wyldings and crime.

  8. Section 8 handouts are the problem, we need to drive these idiots out of Chicago by cutting off their welfare, maybe then they wil go find a job like decent people.
