Robbery at Boystown theater?

Police are searching for a middle-aged suspect wanted for a robbery in Chicago’s Boystown, Lakeview neighborhood.

Around 11 p.m., a robbery was reported at 3209 North Halsted Street, near Halsted and Belmont Avenue.

The address belongs to a business called The Playground Theater.

It’s unclear if the robbery happened inside or outside the theater.

The offender was described as a male black with a scruffy beard, 40 to 50-years-old, about 6’2”, and 180 pounds.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black bomber jacket with a purple shirt underneath, and was carrying a bag over his shoulder.

Police said the thief, who was “acting like he was drunk”, identified himself by using the name “Jimmy”.

Police said the suspect stole close to $400.

After the robbery, “Jimmy” was last seen headed westbound toward the Belmont “L” station at 945 West Belmont Avenue.

According to investigators, no weapon was seen or implied.

  1. When are the "boys" in this town going to grow a pair and take a few of these blacks "out"?

  2. Just shoot any nigger that's in Boystown. In a few weeks, problem solved.

  3. I hate to agree with you 6:02pm but something has to be done. Lots of suspicious behavior by them out there, both outside and INSIDE those establishments. If the barkeeps are too ignorant to even notice much less do anything, and the owners aren't going to take action, I say buh-bye and best of luck.

I would never expect NOT to be questioned if walking into a bar, chatting on my phone, staring people down, circling around, NOT ordering a drink, watching the patrons every move again ----- then waiting outside. They can offer them a drink, they don't want one? - have to leave. Plain and simple. Blatant suspicious behavior by and bltantantly obvious NON gay black male.

The area is already too far gone in my opinion. Some humor, chit-chat, what-not out there is NOT worth a knife in your back - or worse.

  4. I was visiting a friend in the loony bin and there were several homos in there, including some black ones. All were Boystown patrons.
They were storming around, demanding services and emergency housing, a massive sense of entitlement. The white gays were way too accepting of this virus that's invaded their community.

  5. I have lived here in Lakeview (boystown, east LV, as well as Belmont and Sheffield area) and unless people start getting "tough" then the criminals are never going to stop showing up and robbing people, and yes, people will start moving out en masse, causing rents to drop...then, garbage low income, classless garbage people will move in, and Lakeview will revert back to what it was in the 70's...some blocks good, some blocks straight up dangerous and ghetto. Most of the businesses will shut their doors. Very sad.

  6. The security bars are still on the back window of my fancy, schmanzy RENTED Lakeview East "condo" that wouldn't sell. Those bars were obviously installed for a reason many moons ago and are still there, ready for the next "gentrification".

SOOOOOOOOOO Happy I didn't believe the hype and buy a home here. I'm not religious but God WAS on my side this time. But then again, I have a good sense of smell.

  7. But, on the other hand, it's kinda sad what's happened to the area. There's always going to be a purse snatching, mugging here and there but when you hear people that have lived in the general area for 20 years say "it's never, ever been this bad" - it's rather telling.

I can do without "the strip" but when a decent 40-something WM can't even go out for a drink without being harrassed in some form or another, you can have it. The clientele in some of those places has changed drastically too. I'm starting to think most of "us" have already given up on it - actually it's apparent. You've got female barteners in most of these "gay" bars now, the clientele on the weekend can be......who knows what.....but obviously not always necessarily gay. Yes, "diversity" is good but you can tell these businesses are even gearing up for change. Smart move I'd guess.
