Lincoln Park car accident shuts down area streets

A car accident at a 3-way intersection in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood has reportedly shutdown several local streets.

Around 6:44 p.m., a car crash occurred on the 700 block of West Fullerton, near Lincoln and Fullerton, said police.

Citing initial dispatch reports, a vehicle struck an estimated 10 cars, then slammed into a building.

The damage to the structure, which appears to belong to Children's Memorial Hospital, was so significant, a building inspector was immediately notified.

A responding officer said at least one person was injured in the crash.

Authorities said sections of West Fullerton Avenue and North Burling Street were temporarily shutdown.

The injured motorist was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital.
