Grand Crossing neighborhood: Shooting on Dorchester Ave.


A man was shot in the chest in Chicago’s Grand Crossing neighborhood early Saturday morning, said police.

According to initial police dispatch reports, the South Side shooting happened on the 7000 block of South Dorchester Avenue.

The Chicago Tribune reported the crime occurred on the 6900 block of South Dorchester.

During the investigation, police said the victim wasn’t sure of the exact location of the shooting, but he confirmed that he was shot “in the middle of the block”.

According to one source, the gunman is a male black with a medium complexion, about 5’9”, and 23 to 27-years-old.

The shooter was possibly wearing a red vest or red sweater.

One eyewitness account indicated a red van with a stripe on the side was involved in the shooting.

At the time of this report, no further details were available.
