Cops: Woman carrying a gun arrested near Old Town neighborhood elementary school

A woman who was reportedly planning to shoot her “husband”, was arrested about a block away from a North Side, Old Town neighborhood elementary school, said police.

Investigators said Kathy Dehart was apprehended at 1450 North Sedgwick Street, around 10:19 a.m.

An officer at the scene said a gun was also recovered.

Prior to Dehart’s arrest, a third party 911 caller said Dehart was standing outside Manierre Elementary School, 1420 North Hudson Avenue, holding a gun and looking for her alleged husband.

At one point, officers thought the female suspect was inside the school and authorities were contemplating putting the school on lockdown.

However, it appears the suspect was never inside the school.
