At 3:27 a.m., police were notified that “a black man was robbing a white man” near the intersection of Western and Lawrence Avenues on the city’s North Side.
After speaking with the alleged victim, responding officers determined that the alleged incident happened near the Western CTA Brown Line station at 4648 North Western Avenue.
According to a police dispatch report, the offender was described as an old-looking bearded man, possibly 70, wearing a brown hat, brown jacket, and black and white pajama pants.
At 3:33 a.m., police stopped a subject matching the alleged offender’s description at a nearby 7-Eleven at 4631 North Western Avenue.
As of 4:11 a.m., it was unclear if the possible suspect was identified as the alleged offender.
An unconfirmed source indicated the so-called victim changed his mind about filing a police report.
