South Side CVS Pharmacy allegedly robbed at gunpoint

A South Chicago neighborhood store was reportedly robbed at gunpoint early Friday morning.

According to a police dispatch report, two offenders, one of them armed with a shotgun, robbed the CVS Pharmacy at 9142 South Chicago Avenue, around 8:39 a.m.

During the alleged robbery, a cell phone caller reportedly dialed 911 while hiding in a restroom.

The offenders were described as two male blacks, 16 to 17-years-old.

One of the robbers was purportedly wearing a mask.

When the thieves left the store they were joined by a third suspect, who may have been acting as a look-out man, said one source.

At 9:14 p.m., police stopped a possible suspect on the 2900 block of East 91st Street, near 91st and Exchange.

At the time of this report, it was unclear if the suspect was identified as one of the offenders.

Chicago News Report contacted the store for more details, but the manager refused to any answer questions.

Even though this incident is miles away from the Aldi that was robbed Thursday, CNR has a hunch these crimes are related.

  1. And I'm sure your "hunch" will be right Timothy.

What in the world are these ghetto thugs missing in their DNA that they have no conscience for the criminal acts they commit? Case in point, the animal who beat that nurse to death, stole her rings and then, proposed to his girlfriend with the dead woman's rings. NO CONSCIENCE WHAT-SO-EVER! Taking a human life for NO REASON and not thinking twice about it? These animals are missing something in their DNA...PERIOD!

  2. T., I don't usually monitor the Far South Side. Today, something told me to pay attention to that area, because another armed robbery involving more than one offender was going to occur. Sadly, I was right.

I feel sorry for anyone who has to work with the public and doesn't have the right to carry a gun; and even if you are armed, there's no guarantee you won't be seriously injured or killed.

  3. I like those Arab owned small stores in the black neighborhoods where they deal with the public there from behind a plastic shield, just like a currency exchange. They have a turnstile arrangement where the money is put down in one end and the merchandise in the opposite end. Then it's turned around so the exchange is made between the two parties. Tells you a lot about the situation there.
Then all these fools talk about "food deserts" in those neighborhoods. There's a good reason for that.

  4. I truly hate black people. They commit 99% of the crime. This area used to be all white, then it when Mexican. Now the mexicans have pretty much moved out to the East Side, and the apes have taken over South Chicago.

  6. After reading all these articles, I know why Whites are afraid of me. I'm a young black male. I'm not a thug but I can't change the perceptions of white people if all they see and hear is young black males committing crimes. These thugs make the good African Americans look bad. Many white people refuse to sit next to me on the bus or train and many look back when I'm walking behind them. I feel bad that I make them feel that way because of my skin color and my age. I don't blame white people though because in my neighborhood and throughout Chicago, I see black thugs on the corners not whites. One thing I can say to all White people is that don't generalize because not all African Americans are like this. But protect yourself at all times.

  7. Anonymous@9:33,
Thank you for being honest. I feel bad for you as well and often say that these thugs are ruining it for people like you. I wouldn't be afraid to sit next to you, however, I do pay more attention to who is around me when I'm out and about. People, no matter what color they are, become afraid of another ethnicity for a reason and it's usually because they have been a victim or because of all the crime they commit. I sure hope you don't dress like some of these thugs because that doesn't help. Whatever you need to do to distinguish yourself from the thugs, do it and maybe people won't be afraid and you won't have to feel bad because they do;)

  8. Well put Towanda. Couldn't have said it better. Bad blacks are making a living hell for the good blacks.
