Police investigate shooting, alleged stabbing in Rogers Park

Authorities are investigating what appears to be two unrelated, violent crimes in Chicago’s North Side, Rogers Park neighborhood.

Around 8:03 p.m., gunshots were reported on the 6900 block of North Ashland Avenue, near Ashland and Morse.

The shooter was described as a male black wearing a black hat, black jacket, and black gym shoes.

After the shots were fired, a witness saw the alleged shooter running eastbound on Morse from Ashland.

At 8:07 p.m., police stopped a possible suspect near the Chase Bank at 1425 West Morse Avenue.

According to the officer who stopped the subject, several people who were with the possible suspect, fled eastbound on Morse from the Chase Bank address.

At the time of this report, there was no indication the possible suspect had been identified as the shooter or placed under arrest.

While one group of officers were investigating the latest Rogers Park shooting, another team of investigators were looking into an alleged stabbing.

It’s unclear when and where the purported stabbing occurred, but at one point, police were checking the intersection of North Sheridan Road and West Jonquil Terrace for a possible crime scene.

At 8:20 p.m., a responding officer announced via his police radio, that no evidence of a stabbing was found at Sheridan and Jonquil.

If more information becomes available, this article will be updated accordingly.

  2. I wasn't aware of that incident, but a little birdie told me that someone was allegedly shot at Howard and Marshfield at 4:38 p.m.

The alleged shooters are two male blacks. They reportedly fled the scene in a car.

  3. Oh when I first moved to Chicago (not long ago) everyone was hyping Rogers Park as "the most diverse place in the entire country". I just had to check it out for myself. Uh, no thanks. I really think there needs to be a new word entered in the dictionaries and that is "chicagodiversity" because it has it's own meaning. I could write the definition.
