Pickpocket in ‘Kojak-style hat’ wanted for theft at downtown hotel


A female guest was victimized by thieves in a downtown Chicago hotel, one of the crooks was wearing a stylish fedora, said police.

According to police dispatch, the theft occurred around 10:17 a.m. at 640 North Wabash Avenue, near Wabash and Erie.

The address belongs to Hotel Cass, which is located several blocks west of the Magnificent Mile.

The thief, a male black, was in the company of a female black, said police.

The male suspect is about 6-feet-tall and 200 to 210 pounds. He was wearing a black “Kojak-style hat” with a feather in it, a white button-up shirt, black pants, and black Nike gym shoes.

The female accomplice is approximately 5’9” to 5’10’, about 170 pounds, and has a light complexion. She was wearing glasses, a white scarf around her neck, a black full-length winter coat, black leggings, and was carrying a large black purse with gold-colored, chain-like straps.

According to a responding officer, the male black offender was carrying a jacket and used it to shield his hands while he picked the victim’s pockets.

Authorities said the incident was caught on the hotel’s security cameras.

An officer involved in the investigation said the victim, who will be in town for a couple of days, did not want to file a police report.

  1. Great attention to describing the criminals but stupid not to press charges. She just gave those ghetto thugs another day to prey upon another victim.
