Near North Side: Off-duty cop robbed at gunpoint


A victim, who was described as an off-duty Chicago police officer, was robbed at gunpoint on the city’s Near North Side, said authorities.

The armed robbery happened around 2:36 a.m. on the 600 block of West Division, near Division and Howe Streets, said police.

Investigators said the robber was armed with a blue steel handgun.

According to police dispatch, the gunman stole close to $2000.

The offender was described as a male black, approximately 6’8”, and 230 to 240 pounds. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt and dark-colored pants.

The suspect fled the scene in a blue Crown Victoria, driven by a male black driver.

The vehicle was last seen going eastbound on Division Street.

At the time of this report, there was no indication the off-duty police officer was physically harmed.
