Through one of our notorious Facebook investigations, Chicago News Report has uncovered information indicating one of the victim's in the Chatham triple murder was allegedly related to Hester Scott - the Chicago police officer who was reportedly murdered by her 15-year-old grandson.
CNR also made some other interesting discoveries.
On November 5, 2011, around 5 p.m., 21-year-old Chanda Thompson, 21-year-old Cortez Champion, and 21-year-old Shawn Russell, were shot to death in a parking lot at the A Piece of Cake Bakery at 412 East 87th Street.
Chanda Thompson, an employee at the Jellybean Learning Center, had just picked up a birthday cake for her two-year-old daughter, Nazhia Thomspon, when the shooting occurred.
According to several sources, because Thompson didn't have life insurance, a fundraiser will be held in the near future to help with her funeral expenses.
In a sad twist of fate, it appears 21-year-old Cortez Champion was related to Hester Scott, who was also recently murdered.
According to a man named Kenneth Gray, Champion was his cousin and Scott was his aunt.
"My little cousin and my aunt got murdered... rest in peace Cortez Champion and Hester Scott," wrote Gray on his Facebook page.
While everyone is struggling to make sense of this horrific crime, Chicago News Report believes Shawn Russell was possibly the intended victim.
Even though Russell's Facebook page is on lock-down, there was one clue that gave CNR a glimpse into his personality.
Russell listed Larry Hoover among his "Activities and Interests".
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Hoover, he is the notorious leader of the Chicago Gangster Disciple street gang.
I don't care what anyone says... I don't know any choir boys who are giving props to Larry Hoover on Facebook.
So because he has an "intrest" in larry hoover that justify for him 2 get murdered? How do you know that it wasn't another person who's intrest in Larry Hoover didn't commit the crime...fyi shawn wasn't a bad kid..yes he mad mistakes as do EVERY HUMAN BEING!!!but being killed on your childs birthday is just horrible.but your not interested in that ur just in2 blaming it was shawn they wanted because he like larry hoover!! Some things are much bigger than u know...sometimes u should watch how you write and phrase things......

He was the probable target. The other two were probably just collateral damage, as it were. The creeps had no problem in killing two other uninvolved people merely because they happened to be with him at the time. Now some two year old has her mother get murdered. Those gang members are really disgusting. The apologists for the gang creeps are also disgusting. They'll deny everything, claim everyone is a wonderful person, blame it all on others, etc.

That's bull, I am an analytic person and have been interested in the Hoover family as a whole both from the grassroots and organizational leadership perspective and from a legal perspective how his incarceration has been handled. Stop drinking the koolaid and letting the media label our children. That leap was an ostentatious one.

A tip for you: The person who comments on your spelling did not kill the deceased. The person commenting did not order or even sanction the killing. The person commenting is not saying or implying that the deceased deserved to die because you can't write.
Why do I even need to day that? Do many of you have cognitive limitations in addition to your rhetorical deficits?

I have known Shawn for over 4 years. He has always been a respectful young man. Shawn was liked by many people adults for his kindness and ambition to prosper in life. For those who don't know, Shawn was good with writing. He was afforded the opportunity to have an article published in one of Columbia College's magazines a few years ago. It was tough learning about this tragedy. Although I hadn't seen him in awhile, he would always call periodically to let me know how things were going in his life. He will surely be missed.

Just wondering out loud,you claim that there is nothing more in the world that you dislike more than a racist person BUT you make a comment like the one above about the first few comments that were written by mad white people, now isn't that assumption and a little racist on your part? Isn't it possible that people of your own race can have those very same views? Or maybe a mexican or an asian? Why can't we just see it as another human had that view? Like I said I was just wondering out loud after I read your post.
None of these young people deserve to die like this I am so sick of hearing about shootings taking the lives of these young ones or just people period. This last one was a little harder to hear about because of what they were doing at the time of the shooting. I have a little girl myself and I just couldn't imagine leaving her life that way or ever. My heart goes out to her and all of their family and friends. This violence has got to stop. I have only been in Chicagoland (i'm in the sw burbs) for a year and half it seems like when the snow melts and the temp gets higher every night we hear about another shooting of a child, teenager or a young adult either as a target or a stray bullet. It is sicking. I feel so helpless I can only imagine what ya'll closer feel like I really wish there was some way I could reach out and help.I have been saying extra prayers for everyone effected by this tragic shooting.
