Masked gunman opens fire in Uptown

Police are investigating a broad daylight shooting in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.

Sunday, at 2:15 p.m., gunshots were reported in the area of Leland and Broadway, and at Wilson and Broadway.

The alleged shooter was described as a male Hispanic wearing a gray ski mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, black or blue short pants, and gym shoes with no socks.

The suspect, who may have been in the company of two other Hispanic males, was last seen running eastbound on Leland from Broadway.

During the investigation, officers were focused on a gangway on the 4600 block of North Winthrop Avenue.

Preliminary information indicated shell casing may have been found at the North Winthrop address.

At the time of this report, no injuries were reported.

UPDATE: At 2:47 p.m., evidence of an unknown nature was recovered at Leland and Broadway.

  1. There's one on USAToday.com bitching about their loss in property value up there. Crime didn't seem to be mentioned, nor a concern.
