Link Card users boycott grocery store's 'high prices'
Two women, both apparently on food stamps, were filmed holding picket signs outside a Far South Side grocery store. The women were there to protest the store's alleged price gouging.
Rosebud Farm Stand is located at 525 East 130th Street, right next to The Connect convenience store where the deadly November 2011 shootout occurred.
A woman carrying a sign that read, "Lower Your Prices", said Rosebud Farm Stand's prices have skyrocketed. The woman claims a half of ham used to cost $10 -- now it cost $30.
"They are making a million dollars a year and they making it off our community. We are using mostly the Link Card, our Link Card is valuable" said the protester.
A second protester at the scene said Rosebud Farm Stand tried to have them arrested. The female demonstrator claims someone at the store said the protestors were threatening their customers.

There must be more behind these protesters. People usually just go to where the shopping is better instead of standing around with a picket sign. I guess these folks have plenty of time to spare standing around, not having to worry about things like getting to a job. Have LINK card will travel.
ReplyDeleteThese two are obviously attacking the Rosebud operators on racial-ethnic grounds by contrasting them with those supposedly in the "community", naming "Arabs", "Indians" as villains. Fools talking about a "food desert" without getting into why that might be the case. The shuttered nearby store where three people were murdered should be a clue.
Complain, complain, that's all these welfare types do. They should be out looking for a job. Deadbeat parasites, permanent welfare recipients is what they are. Probably have section eight along with their LINK cards.
U know wat , I agree. Ur absolutly right bout these customers.
DeleteGhetto thugs!
ReplyDeleteI know you people here hate to hear about reality but this was Detroit a long, a long time ago. There they are able to go to the nearby suburbs to do their shopping - BUT they have to check their behavior and mouths or at the snap of a finger, the police will be there. Cries of racism on any level will not be heard. They can take it to a court room but WILL lose. Any and every ordinance and law that they violated (such as "public nuisance" - which Chicago could easily use to thwart crime in it's "pristine" North side) will be used as a defense.
ReplyDeleteIt's very different here.
Wow...they could save taxpayers a lot of money by boycotting everything.
ReplyDeleteApparently, these two don't know about basic supply and demand economics (and they don't seem to be educated folks in general as well).
ReplyDelete"They are making a million dollars a year and they making it off our community. We are using mostly the Link Card, our Link Card is valuable" said the protester.
ReplyDeleteSomebody explain to me the logical basis for freeloaders claiming they are being exploited?
I get the "food desert" thing BUT who created that? Why would any business of quality want to do business where the possibility of being robbed, shot or killed is more of a possibility then not?
ReplyDeleteDon't these people have cars? Can't they go where there is a grocery story like Jewel, Dominick's or a super Walmart? And if they don't have a car, take the bus there and get your food delivered with the money you will save from not shopping at a "connivence" stores. I do. I don't have a car. Perhaps they know someone with a car and could car pool to grocery shop. There are solutions. Make an effort.
Go to Aldi's, dumbasses
ReplyDeleteI have NEVER seen a ham roast selling for $10!!!! This is a complete exaggeration, and obviously these women are looking to get something for nothing.
ReplyDeleteFood desert??? With $10 hams, it sounds a little bit more like an oasis of pork!
AND....chicken breast for $1.69-not bad.
They are already getting something for nothing. They are looking to get MORE for nothing.
ReplyDeleteAnother lazy link card holder. I'm so sick of my tax money going to link and section 8. I wish these programs were cut asap.
ReplyDeleteCan ANYTHING - anything at all? - be done to finally turn these so-called "people" into GENUINE HUMANS?
ReplyDeleteProbably not but a good program of forced sterilization of all public housing/welfare collecting section 8 "mamas" - would be a great start!
What exactly entitles these two to buy cheap ham?
ReplyDeleteIf they're on welfare, and every dime really counts, how about budgeting, and buying the cheapest meat? I'm certain that there is ground chuck, dark chicken meat, and even canned stuff like Spam that is exponentially cheaper than the "half a ham" she refers to.
What's next, are they going to bitch about how expensive Dom Perignon is?
Whitey on the Moon!
