According to authorities, on Saturday, around 11:08 a.m., a man was walking through an alley behind the 2100 block of North Freemont Street when a black male suspect passed him by.
As soon as the victim’s back was turned, the suspect put on a red ski mask, pulled out a gun, and demanded the victim’s wallet, said police.
While patting the victim down, the offender pressed a gun to the victim’s stomach, said police.
Investigators said when the gunman realized the victim didn’t have a wallet, the offender knocked the victim to the ground and fled the scene in a white sedan that was waiting at the end of the alley.
According to police, the getaway car was driven by a second male black.
The would-be robber is 17 to 22-years-old, clean-shaven, and has medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a royal blue jacket.

ReplyDeleteyou need to buy a gun, keep it concealed, and point it in the direction of any "person" you feel is a potential threat. Do this with a smile, of course. No Harm, No foul.
ReplyDeleteAnd never turn your back until you are at a safe distance. If the hair on the back of your neck stands-up, there is a threat. This is an innate response, not a cool breeze. There's a reason the species are so polarized - it has happened over a period of 200,000 years.
Slavery short-circuited that natural genetic drift, otherwise these problems simply would not exist in the new world.

ReplyDeleteRacism is a cause and effect phenomenon....no one would care what color anyone was if their wasn't an obvious behavioral divide...that's what I've noticed, through experience. Racism is rarely taught, but acquired.
ReplyDelete@ Anon 5:16am, you are absolutely correct. If any demographic were comitting the majority of violent and dangerous crimes, they would be discriminated against. No one cares what color a person is; people do care about their safety, and it so happens blacks threaten our safety.

Concealed carry starting to look like viable option?
I was just in the Lincoln Park community meeting with my classmates at our professor's home. I am Black, and I am concerned. My concern is for those of us African-Americans that are not "baby-mamas," criminals and such. We get targeted and judged based upon the actions of those that just happen to belong to the same race, and it is not fair. Some of my classmates judge me, and I've had professors to do the same. I've seen people guarding their purses and watching me the entire evening, when I actually make more money then they do. Does it matter that I am a married Black woman with four children- each are attending a Parochial school($720.0 per month), my husband and I work everyday to provide for the simple things in our lives, survived foreclosure, all while I'm attending Graduate school?
ReplyDeleteThe media created a self-fulfilling prophesy, and the disparities in the inner-city motivate such negative behavior. If there are no livable wage paying jobs, and no equal access to quality education, where does that leave those that are vulnerable to choosing crime? No one cares about poverty until it affects them, i.e. they are robbed, or suffer a hardship. Crime, violence and poverty are interrelated.
It amazes me that we Americans are not even unified in Congress over simple important issues such as gay rights, healthcare, etc. only because some Americans are still very primitive in thought. We simply cannot and will not get over skin color although this country was built upon the backs of slaves(free labor). If dogs and cats care not about color, then what the hell is our problem? Until the economic and racial problems are resolved, criminal behavior will continue, but don't judge me or hate me because of the color of my skin, or those that share my skin but choose to commit crime.
