West Ridge: Shooting near Warren Park


A victim was shot near Warren Park early Tuesday morning.

Around 12:15 a.m., police found a shooting victim on the 6500 block of North Western Avenue in the West Ridge, West Rogers Park neighborhood.

The victim was shot in the left leg, said police.

Investigators said the shooting actually occurred several blocks away, at 6459 North Oakley Avenue.

The shooter was identified as a male black named Michael Anderson.

Anderson is 5'5" to 5'8", approximately 170 pounds, has a light complexion, and was last seen wearing a "Chicago" baseball cap and black and white Nike gym shoes.

The shooter's last known addresses are on the 2400 block of West Arthur Avenue, and on the 7500 block of North Bell Avenue, said police.

Authorities said tenants at the West Author address saw the suspect three hours before the shooting.

Police said Anderson has access to at least two handguns, and is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

The shooting victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois.
