Monday, around 9:45 p.m., police were notified of a shooting on the 2400 block of West Devon Avenue, near Devon and Leavitt.
Subsequent 911 calls indicated a man was shot and several male blacks were seen running away from the alleged crime scene.
Police were on the scene around 9:46 p.m.
Officers searched the area, but could not find a shooting victim or a crime scene.
At 9:47 p.m., an eyewitness said 3 male blacks were hiding behind the 7-Eleven at 2200 West Devon Avenue.
Investigators followed the lead, but came up empty-handed.
Witnesses on 6400 block of Leavitt Street heard the shots and saw several people running northbound through a nearby alley.
Authorities sent a police car to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, in case a shooting victim showed up looking for medical treatment.
Around 9:50 p.m., police confirmed a bullet went through a second floor apartment window on the 6400 block of North Leavitt Street.
At the time of this writing , no injuries had been reported and there was no indication any arrests had been made.
