‘14-year-old’ goes on Lincoln Park crime spree

A perpetrator, who may be as young as 14-years-old, is reportedly responsible for at least two crimes in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Monday, around 8:35 p.m., a thief broke into a car parked at 2228 North Clybourn Street and stole a black backpack, said police.

The offender was described as a male black with a dark complexion, 14 to 16-years-old, 5’8” to 5’9”, and 135 to 155 pounds.

The suspect has neck-length braids or twists with beads on them. He was last seen wearing a blue and white sweatshirt and a blue wool knitted hat.

Several people chased the thief and recovered the backpack, said police.

The offender was last seen running eastbound on Webster from Clybourn.

Less than 10 minutes later and several blocks north, a theft was reported at a nearby Starbucks coffee house at 1245 West Fullerton Avenue.

According to police dispatch, a 15-year-old male black in a blue and white sweatshirt with dreadlocks, stole something from the business.

Authorities never clarified what was allegedly taken from the North Side Starbucks.

As of 9:24 p.m., there was no indication an arrest was made.
