VIDEO: CTA riders voice their opinions about the Red Line
The Red Line Project, staffed by DePaul University College of Communication undergraduate journalism students, interviewed CTA passengers at several Red Line "L" stations throughout Chicago.
When Makisha Allard was interviewed at the Clark/Division subway station at 1200 North Clark Street, she described the Red Line as sluggish, smelly, and full of human pests.
"It's always slow. It stinks. It's people on there that bother you all the time," said Allard, as she grimaced at the mere thought of riding the Red Line.
The Red Line Project also interviewed commuters at the Uptown Lawrence train station at 1117 West Lawrence Avenue, and at the Rogers Park Jarvis "L" stop at 1523 West Jarvis Avenue.

Thank you for posting this CNR. It is nice to see real Chicagoans (not ghetto ones) being interviewed on how they feel about the CTA. As much as I bitch about Chicago and its ilk, I still love the people and this city. I love their honesty and candor. Truly a city of big shoulders.
ReplyDeleteda red linne is vary safe.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous October 26, 2011 1:32 PM, you're welcome.
ReplyDeleteThe redline is nice once you get past washington heading northbound. The southbound passage is smelly and dirty. The people on there use it as a huge waste container. They have no respect for fellow passengers or public property. I don't ride the redline if I have to go southbound. I take the metra to sox games/IIT or the green line.
ReplyDeleteThe Red Line has weirdos traveling in both directions.
ReplyDeleteJust a nice man going to work from the Northside. I had to be there very early for one Holiday weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe people that had been riding this train from the "night" before were obviously still hanging on (I use the word "people" very loosely).
The first car I jumped on smelled of shit. Very strongly. There was something looking dead, but possibly still alive, where that stench was eminating from. Us decent working people all exited that car at the next stop and ran to the next. That one reeked of weed. I couldn't go to work smelling of marijuana so myself and about 10 others RAN to the next car at the next stop. This is the "Red Line". Shitcago's "world class public transportation" @ 5:30 a.m.
It's not bad from 9:00 a.m til about 2:00 p.m. (then the "schools" let out). Other than that, those duped into moving to Chicago by your employers for better opportunity, "diversity", or WTF ever else.......keep your car. Wait on Lake Shore Dr. for hours in it to get to work 3 miles away while Courtney and Akbar the cabdriver clog it up arguing over a broken tailight and pay the parking fees. It's worth it.
The other option is to find some digs along the Brown Line (aka the White Line).
It's a shame this city wasn't planned correctly at the turn of the century and this "Red Line" was allowed to ruin, from north to south, what could otherwise be a beautiful waterfront called Lake MICHIGAN.
