Cops: Shoplifters break window at Uptown Jewel-Osco

Two black male suspects are accused of shoplifting and committing criminal property damage at an Uptown neighborhood grocery store.

At approximately 8:25 p.m., employees at the Jewel-Osco at 4355 North Sheridan Road, near Sheridan and Montrose, reported two male thieves.

At the time, the men were reportedly stealing liquor from the store.

A subsequent 911 call indicated that in addition to theft, the men broke a window at the North Side food store.

One offender is approximately 6-feet-tall, has breaded hair with white beads, and was last seen wearing all black clothing.

The second suspect is about 5’10”, wearing all black clothes, a black cap, and white gym shoes.

Witnesses said the thieves were last seen running southbound on Sheridan Road.

  1. I used to shop here and at the Aldi on Broadway all the time. Over the years I don't feel safe shopping at that Jewel. Too many lowlife characters like to loiter around the store. Too bad these section 8 recipients are being allowed to trash our neighborhood!!!!!!!

  2. Love "integration". Certain people should not be allowed to live amongst law-abiding citizens and they sure as hell should have to piss in a cup to do it, should have a job or should have to do volunteer work for the privilege of getting freebies and living amongst us! Screw "pc"!

  3. When I lived in the neighborhood, I used to shop at that Jewel all the time. I never had any problems, but I can see how other people might be intimidated by the knuckleheads who congregate in the area.

  4. I hate to even go over to that Target. Too bad it's where it is and it wouldn't surprise me if it isn't robbed blind. One time when we were over there, a very young girl was standing out front waiting for her friend to come out, who had been detained for stealing booze. I chatted with her and she said they had asked several people going in if they would buy them booze, they had the money, she said, and since no one would, her friend decided to just steal it. Wow! That about says it all!

  5. Uptown needs to be fenced off and declared "No Man's land". Check back in a couple years and see who's still alive and deport them afterwards.
