Arrest made in Lincoln Park armed robbery

Tuesday, September, 27, 2011, a man was mugged near Lincoln Avenue on Chicago's North Side.

Police believe the incident may be related to other crimes in Lincoln Park and in Uptown.

Around 11:04 p.m., a male victim was robbed at gunpoint on the 1200 block of West Oakdale Avenue, near Oakdale and Lakewood, said police.

Two male blacks armed with a gun, stole the man’s cell phone, said police.

Both suspects are believed to be in their 20s, about 5’10”, with medium builds.

Investigators said the thieves were wearing dark-colored clothes and one of them was wearing a baseball cap.

At least one suspect was wearing a zip up jacket, said authorities.

A nearby security camera possibly caught the getaway car leaving the crime scene.

An officer who reviewed the surveillance footage, described the possible getaway car as a silver or gray four-door vehicle with a moon or sunroof.

At 11:17 p.m., police stopped a four-door Chrysler with four black male occupants at 1114 West Belmont Avenue.

At 11:33 p.m., at least one suspect at Belmont was positively identified as one of the offenders in the robbery at Oakdale and Lakewood.

At the time of this report, authorities were re-interviewing the robbery victims from 4711 North Malden and at Orchard and Wrightwood.

Authorities believe the men stopped at Belmont may be responsible for the crimes at the aforementioned locations.
