2 arrested in Evanston after cabdriver is robbed, attacked in West Ridge
Two offenders attacked and robbed a taxi driver in Chicago’s West Rogers Park, West Ridge neighborhood, said police.
The crime happened around 11 p.m., on the 7600 block of North California Avenue, near California and Howard Street, said officials.
Two black male suspects hit the driver on the head with an unspecified object and took a black backpack containing the cabdriver’s money, said police.
One offender was wearing a cream-colored shirt. The second suspect was wearing a blue jacket. Both men were wearing hats at the time of the robbery.
Investigators said the muggers were last seen running northbound toward Evanston, Illinois.
At 11:08 p.m., authorities stopped two possible suspects at the intersection of West Howard Street and North Maplewood Avenue in Evanston.
At 11:10 p.m., the victim positively identified the suspects, said police.
Both men were placed under arrested.
It's unclear if the robbery victim's property was returned.

No wonder we can't get cabs in Rogers Park. And no wonder they are too afraid to pick up black passengers. Can you blame them?
