South Side robberies on Stony Island
In the wake of a rash of recent robberies, police are urging South Side residents to be on the lookout for thieves targeting a particular area.
According to an August 12, 2011 crime alert, the incidents occurred between July 11, 2011 and July 27, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Strong-arm robberies have occurred on the 6800 block of South Stoney Island near Jackson Park and on the 7500 block of South Stoney Island near Jackson Park Hospital at 7531 South Stoney Island, said police.
In each case, the offender or offenders approached a lone victim and used force to take their property, said authorities.
The suspects, described as male blacks, are between the ages of 15 to 20-years-old, 5'08" to 5'09", and 145 to 175 pounds.
One thief's hair was styled in dreadlocks.
