Officer hit by car in downtown, Loop accident



A Chicago police officer was struck by a vehicle in an apparent hit and run car accident, said authorities.

A female officer was hit by a car at the intersection of Madison and Dearborn Streets, around 5:15 p.m., said police dispatch.

It's unclear if the officer was inside or outside a patrol car when the incident occurred. 

The offending vehicle was described as a blue Dodge Durango with the license plate: H482775.

The car was last seen headed northbound on Dearborn Street.

The officer, who was alert and conscious following the hit and run, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, 251 East Huron Street, for medical treatment.
