Bullets hit Lawrence House during Uptown shooting
Around 4:28 a.m., several residents reported gunshots in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.
One 911 caller heard shots fired near the intersection of Lawrence and Sheridan Road.
The caller also reported the sound of breaking glass, said investigators.
Another citizen actually witnessed the shooting on the 4700 block of North Kenmore Avenue, near Kenmore and Lawrence, said police.
An eyewitness saw two black men exit a gray station wagon and fire several shots at a pedestrian, said police.
After the shooting, the suspects fled the scene northbound on Kenmore, then eastbound on Lawrence Avenue.
According to one source, the shooter was wearing a dark-colored jersey with white letters on it.
Police said property at Lawrence House, 1020 West Lawrence, was damaged during the shooting.
No further details are available.

That corridor of Lawrence, Sheridan, & Kenmore is nothing but a cesspool filled with 100's of ghetto thugs. I'm surprised there are any businesses there at this point. Way too many CHA and SRO'S in a few block radius is part of the problem.
ReplyDeleteI can remember when all you had to worry about was being on Wilson at the wrong the time. Now the concern has spread throughout the entire neighborhood. When I lived in Uptown in the early 90s, it was a reasonably safe and great neighborhood.

ReplyDeleteumm... no offense, but i was hangin around uptown in high school in the early 90's, going to concerts at the Riv and Aragon, and it was sketch-ola back then, too. true, i was from the suburbs, but i hung out in chicago all the time. in fact, it's certainly more developed now near that bar The Spot and other stuff near Montrose/Broadway.
Anonymous, you are right. Uptown has always been a little rough around the edges; especially, Wilson Avenue.
ReplyDeleteBut when I lived there, I wasn't worried about getting my head blown off in the middle of the day.
At one point, shootings were unheard of in Uptown. Now it's a regular occurrence. In fact, two people were shot in Uptown this morning.
Uptown was always known as a downscale area. However, that was due to the large number of winos and other hard drinking classes of folks that were there. But if you stayed out of their bars and went about your business you were alright. This ghetto garbage takes things to a new low and makes things unsafe for uninvolved people.
ReplyDeleteTo Chicago news report - The shooting actually occured in Buena Park which is sandwiched between Lakeview and Uptown.

ReplyDeleteAccording to various city/neighborhood maps and google maps, this is considered the southeast corner of Uptown with no mention of Lakeview, since Lakeview is shown to end at Irving Park Rd. Not sure about "sandwiched between"
Always a bad idea to comment on a crime before the facts come out.
ReplyDeleteUnless of course you have relevant info.
Otherwise its just a forum to vent and shriek. Maybe that is point in which case disregard this comment.
Hey Littleton, your artwork sucks, almost any /b/tard on 4chan can draw circles around go. Now go smoke some terra cotta or something
