Attempted kidnapping in Belmont-Cragin neighborhood
Police have issued a warning regarding an attempted kidnapping in Chicago's Belmont-Cragin neighborhood.
On July 1, 2011, around 1 p.m., a man posing as a 9-year-old girl's relative, tried to abduct the girl from the 2900 block of North Major Avenue, said the community alert.
The suspect told the girl he was her uncle and asked the child to come with him, said the report.
The child ran away from the offender.
The would-be child abductor was described as a white man, 20 to 29-years-old, and was last seen a black shirt and shorts.
According to the community alert, the offender was driving a black and white SUV.
